Richard D. Lucas
Richard D. Lucas is a shareholder in the firm. He received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Richmond in 1979 and his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1982. Mr. Lucas is a frequent statewide speaker on workers’ compensation issues. He has been voted by his peers to Best Lawyers in America since 1999 and has been listed as a Super Lawyer in Virginia for the past four years. He was named Best Lawyers’ 2011 Roanoke Workers' Compensation Lawyer of the Year. Mr. Lucas is a member of the Roanoke, Virginia and American Bar Associations, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys (past chair of the Workers’ Compensation section) and the Virginia State Bar.


Christopher M. Kite
Christopher M. Kite is a shareholder in the firm. He received B.A. degrees in Rhetoric and Political Science from the University of Virginia, where he was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference’s All-Academic Football Team in 1987/88. He received his J.D. degree from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 1992. Chris lectures and instructs seminars on workers’ compensation law and practice in Virginia. He has been voted by his peers to Best Lawyers in America since 2004 and is listed as a Super Lawyer in Virginia. Chris is a member of the Roanoke, Virginia and American Bar Associations, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, where he has served as the vice-chair and chair of the Workers’ Compensation section, and the Virginia State Bar.


Lisa M. Tolusso
Lisa M. Tolusso received her B.A. degree from The Catholic University of America in 1986 and her J.D. degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 1991. Lisa has been licensed in Virginia since 1999 and West Virginia since 1991. Lisa is a member of the Virginia State Bar and West Virginia Bar and the Virginia Association of Defense Counsel. She represented employers and workers in West Virginia, worked for the state commission deciding cases, and served on various boards, including drafting guidelines for medical providers and vocational providers participating in the care of injured workers and drafting guidelines for permanent total cases. She has also practiced before the Social Security Administration representing disabled workers and represented employers and workers in Federal Black Lung cases. Lisa has represented clients before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission and the Virginia Court of Appeals.


Jonnie L. Speight
Jonnie L. Speight received her B.A. degree from Old Dominion University, magna cum laude, in 1983, and her J.D. degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law, cum laude, in 1986. Jonnie has been licensed in Virginia since 1986. Ms. Speight has taught numerous seminars, published numerous articles, and counseled countless employers and insurers on Virginia workers' compensation law. She served as an Adjunct Professor teaching trial advocacy at Washington and Lee School of law from 2007 to 2012. Jonnie has been voted by her peers to Best Lawyers® in America since 2006 in Virginia workers' compensation law and was voted Roanoke Best Lawyer of the Year (Real Estate Law) in 2014. Jonnie is a member of the Roanoke and Virginia Bar Associations, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys (past chair of the Workers’ Compensation section and of the Corporate and Commercial Litigation section), and the Virginia Women Attorneys Association and the Virginia State Bar.

Roberta A. Perko

Roberta A. Perko received her B.A. degree in Criminal Justice from Roanoke College in 1991 and her J.D. degree from the Appalachian School of Law in 2006. Roberta has been licensed in Virginia since 2006. She was voted by her peers as a Rising Star in 2010. Roberta is a member of the Virginia State Bar, Roanoke Bar Association, Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys and the Virginia Women Attorneys Association. Roberta represents clients before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission and the Virginia Court of Appeals as well as serves as a Guardian ad litem for children.
 
 
 
John S. Honeycutt
John Honeycutt received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Emory & Henry College. He also holds a Master of Public Administration from The University of North Carolina School of Government and a J.D. from The University of Tennessee College of Law. John is the co-chair of the Southwest Virginia Workers’ Compensation Bar and is a past chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. John is also a member of the Virginia Workers’ Compensation American Inn of Court and is named as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. He is a counselor to employers, insurers, claim administrators and other entities that defend workers’ compensation claims.
